Cool-it Diplomacy is a common driving event.

Event Text

The group is blocked by another survivor group that set up a barricade to protect themselves. They are distrusting and heavily armed.

The person they send to talk is EXTREMELY ANNOYING. Who should try to deal with him?

If alone

He keeps saying things like COOL IT and SAY IT DON'T SPRAY IT.

Results

Send [character] to negotiate

Animal

He/she isn't supposed to be capable of speech, so he/she mostly just licks him/herself. The dingus is really insulted by being made to talk to a dog/cat/goat/critter, but the guards are amused. They let the group through!

Irritating (low Wits and Attitude)

He/she really gets along! They mostly exchange COOL IT quips with each other. For an hour. The group is let through.

Oblivious (low Wits, high Attitude)

He/she somehow doesn't notice all the times the dingus is annoying or insulting. The meeting goes well and the group is let past.

He/she manages to be very polite. After enough pointless questioning, the group is let through the barricade.

Angry-strong (high Strength, low Composure)

He/she loses his/her temper right away and knocks him out in one punch. The barricade guards are impressed by this! One gives a thumbs up. They decide to let [Character] through, anyway.

Low Composure, but not high Strength

He/she loses his/her temper right away and starts screaming. This really spooks the guards, and they start shooting. The group has to flee!

  • [Party] -1 Health (non-lethal)

High Composure/successful Composure roll

He/she manages to control his/her temper! The group is let through the barricade after some further annoyance.

  • Nothing happens

Failed Composure roll

He/she tries to control his/her temper, but the guy is just too annoying. He runs and tells the guards to not open the door. The group has to find a way around!

  • Forced to take a detour

Take a detour

The group decides to take a detour! This is usually a bad idea.

Success

It takes some extra time and gas, but not too much!

  • Lose a small amount of gas (depends on car mileage)

Failure

They get lost for a full day, until finally finding an alternate route.

  • Lose a large amount of gas (depends on car mileage)
  • Group sleeps, 1 meal is eaten
