FANDOM


Melee Weapons are a class of weapon used to attack zombies at close range. Characters equipped with melee weapons are able to swing/jab them at zombies, dealing varying amounts of damage. Swinging a melee weapon will drain a character's energy and eventually tire them out if swung repeatedly.

Each melee weapon has a number of stats which can help determine its usefulness:

  • Power - determines how much damage is dealt with each swing; weapons with higher power will kill zombies in fewer hits.
  • Cooldown - determines how often a weapon can be swung in seconds; weapons with higher cooldown stats have longer wait times in between swings.
  • Knockback - determines how well the weapon knocks over zombies, leaving them stunned and vulnerable. The higher the knockback stat, the more easy it is for the weapon to knock a zombie over.
  • Extra Hits - determines how many zombies can be hit with a single blow of the weapon. At 0, a weapon can only strike one target and no additional targets. At 1, a weapon can strike one additional target for a total of two in one hit, and so on.
    • How often a weapon can strike additional targets is represented by a percentage, i.e. a weapon with 2 (50%) will strike up to three targets half the time and only one target the other half.
  • Break Scale - determines how easily the weapon breaks represented as a percentage. If a weapon has a 5% break scale, then there is a 5% chance that it will break each time it is used.

The effectiveness of melee weapons is also modified by two character stats:

  • Strength - reduces the consumption of energy with each swing of a melee weapon, and reduces cooldown for swinging a melee weapon.
  • Fitness - increases the amount of energy a survivor has when using melee weapons, reduces their energy recovery time, and reduces the consumption of energy with each swing of a melee weapon.
